If you tilt the page at an angle, those vertical lines which seem to be simply shading the brickwork appears to contain numbers.
Not just the front face where we can see them, but also the ‘inside’ of the columns too.
Left pillar at the bottom. Tilt the page and tell me that the left pillar at the bottom doesn’t look like an 1888.
(Kinda reminds me of that page with the Topiary.

Probably just one of those ‘false clues’. Still kind of fun.

This is really just an old wives myth based around the Roman-Latin names for left and right… Sinister et Dexter, respectively.

You’re correct. Right and left are switched in that description.

The top right hand is a right hand while the other three are left hands. [Credit: Unknown] The top right hand points the correct direction to turn to the next page, and is thus the correct hand. This sets up a principle used throughout the book in which the non-matching item in a set is correct.

I am confused. To me the top right hand is a LEFT hand, its the other 3 which are RIGHT hands, what’s going on here?
