Hi! This is my first time posting here- don't throw too many rotten tomatoes at me if this turns out to be meaningless :-P

Something I find interesting that I haven't seen mentioned too often is the theme of horns- or, well, not exactly horns, but cones used for making noise? You'll see what I mean. They are present in Room 13 (on the chair), Room 29 (leaning against the unmarked door to 17), Room 33 (leaning against the door to 3 (notably, the correct solution!)) Room 41 (in the door to 10), and finally Room 43, the huge freaking phonograph bell.

Now obviously. What does this mean??? Something that immediately strikes me as interesting is that in Room 29, the 3 very thin horns lie next to the door to 17 (the hidden room) and in Room 41, the 4 (or so) varied horns are in the same room leading back to 1. Also, Room 43, part of the trap, has one gigantic horn.

This could simply be glimpsing patterns in the static, but I notice that the closer one is to 45 and farther away from 24, the smaller the bell of the horn is. A similar correlation can be put together from the number of horns- fewer horns indicating fewer options. (see- 33 and 13 in the close innards of the Loop, 43 being of the Trap) On the inverse, more horns show more freedom (see: 29's 3 horns leading you to the center of the maze, 41's 4 horns giving you the option to restart.)

Whatever the horns may mean, I think they almost certainly mean... something! Or Christopher just really likes drawing horns, and I'm looking into this too hard. Who knows!

(p.s. horns... Minotaur... room 43... the trap... hmm...)

I considered including all of the alchemist translations--probably worth noting if you're seeing them, especially anagrams. But add in rhymes as well.

That really broadens up the inquiry, though...

I vote that we also count rearranging of letters - Manson laid out the following as the basic operations for changing a word in The Practical Alchemist, which is basically all about what you're describing:
-Change a letter (cat->cot)
-Add a letter (cot->cots)
-Change a letter (cots->rots)
-Rearrange the word (rots->sort)
-Remove a letter (sort->sot)

I'm interested in cataloging rhyming objects, or objects the names of which are formed by changing one letter, in adjoining rooms.

Ex. Room 3 : Riddle
Room 33: Fiddle

Ex. Room 33: Coach
Room 35: Couch

I'm not the first person to want to explore this, but for some reason I keep exploring it briefly and then getting distracted by something else. Any notable examples occur to anyone else? Feel free to load them up here!

Sara: Only things actually in the book, please.
