It’s hard to imagine knowing what 4 is referring to without already knowing the answer, and it doesn’t seem to help us choose between the awl and the nun.

5 refers to LIVE, from the ELVI sign, but it’s not clear how the clue is helpful.

6 has to refer to hhe eye and the N, but isn’t very helpful in determining that, or in suggesting that we read a long Z as a sideways N.

Like the riddles in the book itself, even knowing the answer isn’t nearly enough to make sense of it.
