In posts below, it’s been pointed out (by vewatkin I believe, and others) that the first line of text could either refer to the third crown door or to the crown of the bald dude’s head. The last four words of the first line might be telling us to count: “everyone to see now” = “every1 2 3 now” where “to” = 2 and “see” = “c” ‎ =  3. Counting “now” gives us n(14) + o(15) + w(23) = 42, the correct room number for the door with the crown. But the same line could mean to count bald heads: 7. That 34 adds to 7 was also pointed out in posts below, and so was 25 adding to 7. This post is just gathering more evidence to suggest this is intentional.

The second line has “low born” which might refer to the number appearing lowest on the page: 25. 2+5=7. And “close to a king” could refer to the 7 pictures above the crown. The crown kind of points to those 7 pictures and divides them into two groups of four bald dudes to the left of the crown and three bald dudes to the right. Room 7 has lots of pictures on the walls (including a crown), and maybe the autobiographical details about the guide’s parents is a clue that their portraits are on the walls? The corner of the room with the monk and mirror I think might be relevant. I’ll post on that later. I think there’s more counting to be done here. As stated in the solution posts, the third line uses “felt” to clue us to the door on the left: 34. 3+4=7. All of these 7’s seem to point to door 34. There’s more perhaps…

In the next paragraph we get “ought” = 0, “to” ‎ = 2, “I” = 1, “three” = 3 in that order. If we take the number to indicate the door position starting at 0, then maybe we’re being told door preferences. The children prefer the door in position zero (door 34) but only because they can’t take the door “they wanted”, the door in the two position (crown door 42). For the guide, the doors in the one position (door 13) and three position (door 35) are preferred since they go in the wrong direction. But in the next line the guide lets us know “Any of these is fine for (4) my purposes.” The room in the fourth position would be Room 25! In case you’re not convinced, the last line says “leaving for (4)” which, by this logic, means leaving room 25.

the crown is door 4? Evidence: 4 nails on the board fallen, and the expression over the door is fear-> fear is similar to four? Not to mention that the moods are placed in descending order as were the first four planks on the door
