Greg is long gone, so I can't ask him, but your enthusiastic reponse to his old post suggests you may understand what he was talking about better than I do. What does he mean in saying that 35 is "weighted with information about The Guide"?

Did you derive any significance from the 3-ish shape here, or were you just noting the observation?

It seems possible you may be onto something.
This very page itself hints that narrating 'guide' cannot be trusted.
'We went down the ONLY way open to us' INDEED!

That wooden beam.
The one that's tilted at an angle.
The supports are shaped how one might usually expect. Except... they're attached into the supporting pillar at perpendicular angles rather than in-line as how one might expect such architecture.
And if you rotate the book counterclockwise by 90 degrees, doesn't that look a bit like a 3?

One certainly wonders if there were more to this game than the official 'solution'. But even if there wasn't any intentional alternative planned; this story is art. And all art, once made available to the public eye, is subject to alternative interpretation. Death of the Author and all that.

Room 8 is the tilted room (that leads here) and the support beam is tilted. Thus, room 8 is above, up the ladder. The "rain" could be the water from one of the bowls that broke.

Yeah, there certainly seem to be instances when an unmarked door is suggestive of which room it came from--though it's unclear why--and putting a symbol over the unmarked passage seems to suggest it should relate to where the passage connects--though that's far from certain. It may be that figuring out what other room the eye shaft connects to is necessary to understanding what the eye means.

I investigated more and it is confusing.

Room 17 is relatively high so it makes sense to enter it by ladder.

However, entrance to Room 6 in the Room 17 have the same kind of arch as the first Door to the Right of Door 40, just smaller.

Eye and Eight, sounds kind of similar, but it is all a bit of a stretch.

Still I think there might be some kind of unknown significance when it comes to those unmarked Doors, and to Doors in general.
