In the 80s all RPGs were essentially mazes. The reason for this is simple, mazes require very little graphics in order get the idea across. The Bard’s Tale by Interplay is a shining example of this genre. The world of Bard’s Tale is a maze like town. In the town are several dungeons with multiple levels, all of them are mazes. So when deep in any particular dungeon the player is in a maze, within a maze, within a maze, etc.
